On Sunday February 23, a group of 15 Q300 kids and their parents braved 10 feet of snow and -30F temperatures (obligatory 2020 “winter” joke) to play in the Packer scholastic tournament in Brooklyn Heights. It was a very enjoyable experience – well-organized, with a great slow-things-down vibe – nobody ever felt rushed. When all was said and done, we had some pretty good performances:

– Classic (K-12 U1300): 4th grader Eric Winsan won first place with a 3-0 score
– Primary (K-8 U800): 2nd grader Galina Shchukin snuck a 10th place with 2.5 out of 4
– Juniors (K-6 U400): 5th grader Abigail Chung tied for 3rd (3-1), and and 6th grader Julia Leopando took 9th place with 2.5 out of 4.

Special thanks to Coach Saudin for setting up the internet hotspot, going over the games and helping the kids throughout. For rated section cross table results, follow this link.
